Funeral service and comforting the bereaved
Lutheran belief concerning death
Death is the inevitable consequence of sin (Genesis 2:16-17). For the unbeliever, it is the ultimate enemy; but for the believer, death is the defeated enemy and the doorway to eternal life (Romans 6:23; John 6:40). But death does not have the final say, for our Lord Jesus Christ will raise the bodies of all people (Daniel 12:2) some unto punishment, but the righteous to eternal life (Matthew 28:46).
Holding a funeral and pastoral care
For the grieving family, our pastors would be available to extend the services of prayer, of the comforting Word of the Gospel and, for those of our faith, the Lord's Supper as well as to visit your home and offer emotional support.Â
